On arrival at Oulton Park, Jake Hill started his day by proudly applying the iconic BRDC logos to his Trade Price Cars Racing Audi S3, having received the news that he had been inducted into the British Racing Driver's Club yesterday (Friday).
"I loved being part of the BRDC 'Rising Stars' programme from when I was 16 until the beginning of this year because I turned 25 - then I got on the Podium in Brands in April and with this result and those I had achieved over my career so far, I was invited to join the most important motorsport club in the world. I cannot tell you how proud I am to be joining - If I can achieve a fraction of the success that some of the legendary drivers that are part of this amazing club I will have a fantastic career."
Hill came to Oulton Park in confident mood, and after making several changes after FP1, a strong run in FP2 saw the #24 Audi end the session a promising P3 overall, and fastest Independent Driver.
Heading into a hot and humid qualifying, further tweaks to the car saw an improvement over his practice times, setting a 1m 26.484, and ending up in the top-ten for the second weekend running.
"To qualify 10th - and 3rd fastest of the Independent Drivers - is a really satisfying result. It was so incredibly hot in the car - I felt pretty sketchy after the session - thank goodness the Trade Price Cars Racing crew sorted a big paddling pool for us to jump in and cool off in afterwards! Seriously, a huge thank you to the team as always - especially my tyre man Ian Downes who saved the say today - let's see what Sunday brings!"
Catch the action LIVE on ITV4HD - Race One at 12.20pm - Race Two at 14.50pm and Race Three at 17.15pm
