Disappointing final race for Jake in AMDs GT4 Porsche
After missing the Snetterton round, Jake endured a bruising final race at Donington which saw both GT3 and GT4 title chasers in trouble. A difficult drive in the AMD Tuning Porsche 997 GT, resulted in an 11th place finish.
At times the action looked more like a Touring Car event as drivers made optimistic lunges with others not giving “racing room”. This led to several incidents, the most high profile of which saw Championship leaders Attard and Sims eliminated after just 13 laps.
Once racing resumed Jakes team mate Graham Coomes brought the car to a respectable position midway through the GT4 pack. Once in the car Jake made his customary smooth progress through the field…until he became another victim of the aggressive driving styles on view.
Having lined up a pass on a rival at Mclean’s he was unceremoniously driven wide with a hit or two for good measure. After his similar experience at Brands, Jake can be forgiven for thinking he’s becoming something of a target!
Thereafter, suffering what appeared to be rear suspension damage, he slowly lost ground finishing a lap down on the rest of the GT4 field.
Not the best end to his campaign but over the season as a whole, Jake has again underlined his credentials as a rapid adapter to whatever car he is given and importantly, a natural over taker ( his rivals allowing!).
Jake s quote summed up the day “a hard day at the office”. But roll on next season!
