Fenn and Hill ready for Brands Challenge
Rob Fenn and Jake Hill are both relishing the challenge of their local circuit, the magnificent Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit in the Fenn's thunderous 1965 Ford Mustang 'Red Rooster' in the Pre 66 Touring Car event this Sunday (26th) and the nimble Lotus Elan 26R later today in the Gentleman Racers event.
Keen to build on a strong opening weekend at Paul Ricard in March where they took Pole Position with the Mustang only for an engine issue to force them to stop whilst in a Podium position, and a superb drive in the Elan saw them take Class Victory and Second position overall.
"We tested at Silverstone last week, and also Brands - albeit on the shorter 'Indy' Circuit - yesterday and both cars are working really well. John Danby and the guys at JDR have worked really hard to get the cars spot-on, so we should be in good shape to challenge at the front. Neither Rob or I had raced at Ricard before, whereas we both know this place really well and love it, and we both have friends and family coming along which is always a great motivation. I Can't wait! said Hill.
Qualifying for both races takes place today (25th) with the 90 minute Gentleman Driver's race at 16.55, and the one hour Pre 66 Touring Car race tomorrow at 14.25.
"I am absolutely loving driving these cars. I am so hugely grateful to the David and Rob Fenn for giving me this opportunity - there's a little twist this weekend as a couple of my BTCC rivals are racing too - Tom Ingram and Jeff Smith who is driving with his partner Jo Polley who I also know well. Hopefully the weather will hold out, although if it rained I think it would be great for the Elan, whatever it does it will be mega!"
