hILL CONTINUES STRONG FORM IN THRUXTON TESTING

After showing strong pace in practice and qualifying at Donington Park last weekend, TAG Racing's 23-year old driver Jake Hill continued to demonstrate his and the Team HARD-run VW Passat CC's pace at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship test-day at Thruxton to day.
In the first of the two 45 minute sessions Hill shot to the top of the time sheets on his first timed run, improving slightly later on, and ending the day just behind Mat Jackson and Jeff Smith in third place on a 1.17.315
"The from of the car wasn't quite as we wanted but the overall balance on this high-speed, bumpy old circuit was really good. Very pleased with the job the boys have done, and great to be on the pace from the outset" smiled Hill.
The team and Hill sat down and analysed data and made a significant change to the set-up of the car, and immediately saw an improvement to a 1.16.835, which put him third overall and fastest of the Independent drivers
A long run on the same tyres showed consistency and strong form, and at the end when Smith, Morgan, Moffat and Goff all put on new tyres it meant Hill ended the session 7th, and 5th of the Independent drivers, but quickest of the 'long-wheelbase' cars.
"The four Honda's and the two Mercedes suit this place and were flying. I was only slightly slower than the Mercedes drivers who had new tyres, and fastest of the longer wheelbase cars, plus went over half a second quicker than this morning which was mega. It really gives me confidence for the race weekend here in a couple of weeks. I think we can challenge at the front again" he added.
Qualifying is at 3.30pm on Saturday 6th May and live on itv.com/btcc then all three races are live on itv4 on Sunday 7th May.
