HILL FLIES TO ANOTHER TOP-TEN BTCC QUALIFYING IN FRANTIC OULTON PARK SESSION
TAG Racing's Jake Hill once again showed impressive qualifying pace at Oulton Park today, taking his Team HARD-run VW Passat CC to a superb 10th overall in another close session.
With the two practice sessions being held in mixed conditions, Hill's crew went into qualifying with a car that was something of an unknown quantity, but having got a good balance in those sessions and at one of his favourite circuits Hill was confident of a strong performance.
"Practice helped me understand the car - we didn't set particularly quick times - but it gave us some crucial data and a really good feeling for the session and I felt very good about qualifying. I managed to get my time in fairly early and almost matched it later on so it bodes well for a car with good 'race-pace- as well" said BRDC 'Rising Star' Hill.
The session was stopped after an incident with Matt Simpson, and with just five minutes remaining of qualifying everyone had one final shot at improving their times. However a big accident involving Martin Depper at 'The Avenue' meant that yellow flags were shown, this meaning drivers must not improve their times through that section of the circuit.
Several drivers failed to respect the flags, and were to have their lap times set whilst the yellow flags were shown disallowed, meaning Hill and team-mate Michael Epps both moved up a place after Proctor's time was excluded, resulting in 10th and 13th on the grid.
"To get in the top ten again is superb. Big credit to Kingsley, Ian and the team - and of course Tony Gilham - they gave us a superb car despite the lack of representative running in practice. I am now determined to have a clean first race, so I can build on things from there."
All three races are LIVE on ITV4 with coverage starting at 11.15am and then the three races at 12.15pm - 14.50pm and 17.00pm.....
