‘Couldn’t have gone any more smoothly!’ was how Trade Price Cars Racing’s Jake Hill described his and the team’s first test of their Audi S3 BTCC machine at a sunny and warm Donington Park yesterday.
Buoyed by the news that Hill’s team-mate, former F1 star Mark Blundell welcomes HP as his principle partner for his 2019 BTCC campaign, the Essex-based squad were delighted with progress both on and off track.
‘We worked through a very thorough programme of set-up options. My engineer Stuart and I had a detailed list, and with the weather being so kind we were able to get through absolutely everything we had planned. We shook the car down at Turweston, and even then everything was spot-on. So a huge thanks to all of the Trade Price Cars Racing crew and the guys at AmD Tuning for preparing the car so immaculately. Very impressive!' said Hill.
Completing over 70 laps over the day, Hill was joined on track by several other BTCC machines, but was keen to stress the team’s focus was on their own programme.
‘It’s always tempting to be curious about everyone else, it’s only natural. But we are all at different stages in our test programmes - it’s our first run in the car, first as this squad of people, so we focused on our plan.’
Attending the test was Trade Price Cars Racing owner Dan Kirby, who was also delighted with the day’s events.
‘I’m so proud of the guys efforts. I was so pleased to see the Trade Price Cars Racing Audi on track for it’s debut run - there’s been a huge amount of work to get this far - Jake did a really professional job and gave the guys some fantastic feedback and data to work with. We are also delighted to welcome HP on board as Mark's (Blundell) primary partner - it’s superb to have them working with us this season. Mark popped up to say hello today to the team and spend some time working with Jake and the engineering team to get as familiar as possible before he starts testing soon’.
The team will resume on track next week at Brands Hatch, with further testing planned prior to BTCC Media Launch later in the month.
