support for billy monger appeal
Racing alongside the BTCC at Donington Park last weekend were the aspiring Formula One drivers of tomorrow, battling in the fiercely competitive Formula 4 series.
Sadly the series has made headline news as a result of a horrific accident involving 17 year-old Billy Monger from Surrey, who collided at over 120mph with the stationary car of Patrick Pasma who had spun and an unsighted Monger had no chance of missing him.
On Wednesday Billy's family along with his team, JHR Developments, made the terribly sad announcement that Billy had lost both of his lower legs as a result of the accident, and was in an induced Coma to aid his recovery.
Immediately JHR boss Steven Hunter and BTCC championship leader Tom Ingram rallied round and set-up a 'Just Giving' page to help raise funds for Billy's future and what will doubtlessly be a long road of recovery and adaptation for him and his family.
Jake was extremely upset to learn of Billy's accident and has joined many of the drivers and teams in displaying a 'BillyWhizz' sticker on his BTCC car in support, and of course donated to the just giving fund along with such notables as Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and even Hollywood actor Woody Harrelson.
"I've known Billy and his family since he was in Ginetta Junior. He's just a bundle of fun, really lovely lad and a great family too. It's hard to take in and I don't mind admitting I have felt pretty tearful since learning the news. It's amazing how much love and support - both emotional and of course financial - that people have shown. Please, please if you are reading this and haven't done already just give anything you can to help Billy. It means the world to all of us to get as many people aware and helping him as much as possible" said Jake.
Please follow the link to the Just Giving page and follow social media to get #BillyWhizz stickers and T-Shirts in support of Billy.
