Trade Price Cars Racing’s Jake Hill in action at Brands Hatch during Season Launch
‘Very productive, and very pleased’ said Trade Price Cars Racing’s Jake Hill as he reflected on a strong day’s running with his Audi S3, at Brands Hatch during the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Season Launch today.
After media duties were undertaken at the beautiful Hever Castle in Kent on Tuesday, all 30 drivers made their way to nearby Brands Hatch for a photo call early morning, and then a busy day of on-track action.
‘We started the day with a few things we needed to work through, and as we got through that programme we had put in a lot of laps, the tyres were suffering a bit, but we had a good idea of what we needed to do for the afternoon session.’
With 25 year-old Hill working hard with his crew to ensure the car was in a strong position, he put in a run on new tyres mid-afternoon which saw the distinctive white, pink and blue liveried machine hustled into fourth position, just under 0.2 seconds away from the fastest overall time set so far.
‘Great that the changes we made really improved the car. I felt I could have got a little more out of my new-tyre run, and there’s definitely more we can find in the car’s set-up, so we are all really, really pleased to have set that time’ said Hill.
With several of the team and Hill’s 2019 partners attending, along with guests from team-mate Mark Blundell, Trade Price Cars Racing’s owner Dan Kirby was delighted with how things went both on and off track.
‘We started the day with the great news that Oodle Car Finance have joined us a title sponsors for Jake’s car, so we are really looking forward to working with everyone there over the season. To see Jake in the top-ten, and the way Mark gone too is really encouraging for us all. We had lots of guests joining us, so a big thank you to everyone for coming along.’
The team will focus on preparing for the opening weekend of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship - also at Brands Hatch - in just over a week on 6th/7th April, on what is a home race for Hill and the Essex-based team.
“Living in Goudhurst and working here as an Instructor at the racing school many times, this really is home for me. We will have lots of guests, friends and family here, and having Won the Independant’s category last year here, I would love to do more of the same. Can’t wait!’
Qualifying is shown live on itv.com/btcc at 4pm, with all the BTCC races LIVE on ITVHD, with race one at 11.30am
